Golf Swing Speed

Hi, Rodney here.  I am about to Explain to you a simple drill to help you strengthen the sequence of your transition.  A common fault in golf is where to begin the downswing, either the club head will move first or the upper body will move first.  It could create a variety of problems: (over the top, steep, loss of club head speed, early releasing.)
So, pro-transition could cause many problems.  I am going to Show you the correct sequence of the downswing. I want to do the drill called waist-high swings.  You're going to bring the club to about parallel to the ground. Basically from here, you're going to learn how to sequence your downswing.

You're going to learn to start the downswing with a rotation and a weight shift to your left foot.  As you're doing this, the shoulder shouldn't be moving.  The arms and the club should remain stationary also.  This will be gaining some separation between lower body and upper body.  Then, your shoulders will follow that hip rotation, and your arms, and then lastly, the club.

When you find yourself doing it correctly, even from a short swing stationary position, you need to be able to compress the ball and create some club head speed. If you've got the fault of starting the swing with your club head, you might discover it very difficult to start with.  You might still start the downswing from this position with the club head, but you won't be able to create a solid contact, and it will be a very weak ball flight.  Keep working on it.  Continue learning from here to start the downswing with your lower body rather than the club head and the upper body.  From here, simply swing through, let the components (the shoulders, arms, and club head) follow that initial movement from the lower body.  You have to create a few pumps of the hips, one, two, three, before you go. Practice it until you can create some good speed from this static position.  You've got to feel for the correct sequence and add that same feeling to your full swing.

Here is a video to demonstration what I've just said

You'll need to improve flexibility simultaneously as you work to improve strength in order to have the best overall physical condition possible so that you can play.  This means that you ought to concentrate on build lean muscle, rather than bulky muscles.  The main differences is the amount of flexibility that the muscles provide.  Bulky muscles are typically stronger, yet at the same time they aren't as flexible which can greatly restrict your chances to twist appropriately when you are swinging at the ball.  However, building lean muscle isn't impossible, but will take a conscious effort.

Most individuals who are seeking to build muscle strength typically build muscle mass automatically.  That is typically because they are lifting large amounts of weights.  Rather to build lean muscles you need to work to build repetitions of lighter weights.  This will assist you to improve your muscle strength, while allowing you to work towards building the lean and slender muscles that is better for your overall golf game.  Resist the desire to lift weights that might be heavier than 10 pounds because it will result in bulky muscles rather than lean muscles.

You should also work to keep your body as flexible as possible.  This means you need to ensure that you are stretching both before/after playing golf to ensure that you are taking good care of your body.  If you do not stretch then you may find yourself very sore after a game and regretting playing.  Just stretching for as little as 5 minutes before and after a round of golf will ensure that you are able to continuously play without any problems and without feeling as if you are spending more time stretching than playing golf.

As you are playing golf, it is very important to remember that you are often out in the very hot sun.  For this reason, you need to always ensure that you carry water with you to make sure you stay hydrated during the game.  Should you become overheated or dehydrated, it will start to hinder your game as well as cause you problem in having the necessary endurance to play.  Always drink plenty of water to ensure that you are able to continue playing.  This is important no matter what type of exercise you are doing to ensure that you are as healthy as possible.

One last major tip should to be ensure that you walk as much as possible.  Golf is definitely a rather slow moving sport, however it does typically involve great amounts of walking. You should be able to walk great distances without losing your breath, or experiencing back or leg pain.  Those issues can really reduce the amount of time you could play and is going to potentially allow you to have to quit playing the game in the middle of a course.  This is never some thing which is enjoyable so ensuring that you've got a lot of walking exercise is essential.  If you have problems with finding somewhere to walk then consider looking into a treadmill that will allow you to get plenty of walking exercise even off the green.

With careful planning and a tiny bit of carefully planned and executed exercise can go a long way towards helping you transform your golf game dramatically.  Should you want to play golf as more than just messing around on the green, you'll need to improve your conditioning levels and you'll be rather amazed at the benefits that it provides to your health as well as your overall golf swing.

The Perfect Golf Swing

Hi in this Article We are going to show you how to perform the perfect golf swing
This is the full golf swing as it should look from start to finish.

Step 1.  Position yourself in line with the flag.  When approaching your ball,
look out for nearby leaf, small stone, or broken tee, which is in a direct
line between the flag you are aiming for and your ball.
Imagine a line between these two reference points and put your club face square to it.
Now, stand parallel to this imaginary line.  You are correctly orientated to begin the perfect golf swing.

Step 2.  Grip your left hand correctly.  Making sure your club is naturally on the ground behind
the ball, place it in the left hand so that the shaft lies across the top of the forefinger.
It should fit under the heel of the palm to make space for the stability of the club.
Make sure that the little finger is around the grip so that there is no room for the club to move.
Make sure that the thumb is straight on top of the shaft with a natural grip.
You should be able to see two or even three knuckles of your hand.
You will then have the correct angle of the wrist.
This side view shows that position of the left hand clearly.
With the correct left hand grip, you should be able to do this.

Step 3.  Grip your right hand correctly.  With your right arm hanging naturally, shake hands with the club and settle into the grip. Let's see that again from another angle.  Fold your right hand over the left thumb.
The thumb of the right hand on the club should be pointing to the right shoulder.
Finally, lets see those two hand grips together.

Step 4.  Grip the back of the club correctly.  There are three different ways to grip the back of the golf club.
Choose whichever feels better for you.  This is called The Warden,or overlapping grip, and by far the most common grip used in golf.
Place the little finger of the right hand between the index finger and the middle finger of the left hand.  This is the interlocking grip where the right little finger and the left index finger are locked together.
This is a lot easier for those with smaller hands as it allows the fingers to reach around the club.
This is the second most common grip.  Finally this is called the baseball grip and is used by people and children with very small hands in order to get all the fingers around the club.

Step 5.  Adopt the correct stance.  The proper stance will allow perfect balance and poise throughout the swing. To start, the feet should be apart at the same width of the shoulders for a mid iron shot.
The feet, the knees, the hips, and the shoulders should all be parallel to the imaginary line leading to the target. The right foot should be placed straight forward from the body at a right angle to the line of flight so that when you swing, the weight will come on the inside of the foot to be able to push away and do the follow through. The left foot is slightly open as this makes it easier for the body to follow through the golf swing.  Seen in profile, the upper torso should lean forward slightly from the waist, and the knees slightly bend to allow flexibility. This position will make your arms hang comfortably in front of your body to be able to swing more freely. There should be roughly a hands width between your body and the club.  The weight of the body should be on the balls of the feet, not on the heels.
Addressing the ball, both arms are straight but relaxed and the left shoulder is higher than the right due to the position of the hands.

A useful tip: to ensure that your shoulders are in the correct position, first place the club in the center of your chest and lean forward form the waist.
Now,dip your right shoulder slightly until the club touches the inside of your left leg. This is the correct shoulder position.

Step 6.  Perform the final swing.  Now we have the correct orientation, grip, and stance,we are ready to finally perform the swing.

Another useful tip: you might find it useful to perform the waggle at this point.  This movement can be an important part of the swing as it will ensure your weight is evenly distributed between the feet.

Everyone has their own way of using the waggle.  Most importantly it will relax your body in anticipation of the actual shot. The backing now starts with rotation, not with the hands, that action of the arms starts with the rotation of the body, the hands maintaining the same grip pressure thought,Another good tip: practice this rotation movement by holding the club across either the front or back of the shoulders
in the set up position.
Rotate the whole body, belly and all to the right and left, as if in the swing.  Note that the back still stays in the correct angle. The back swing now starts without initial rotation.  Shoulders, hips, hands and arms, and almost simultaneous movement. The shoulders should turn fully, leaving your back facing the target and your weight on the inside of the right foot. The downswing begins by pushing your weight from right to left and rotating the body and hips. This now allows the shoulder arms hands to follow, powering the club through impact.  On impact, the hips are turned with the shoulders parallel to the ball.
The movement continues until the whole body is facing the target.  The motion should be unbroken from the start of the downswing to the finish of the follow through.
The only time that your right foot will move will be immediately after impact, otherwise you wont be able to swing through. Your body should be relaxed throughout. Remember it is a swing and not a hit.
More power comes from faster rotation.  The hips should lead the shoulders all the way through until the end of the swing. And that is how to perform the perfect golf swing.
